In 1500, the Sumeire family was already living in Trets, Provence. This is testified by the local archives found by Gabriel Sumeire Jr. on the occasion of his thesis on " The Trets Community on the Eve of the French Revolution ".

Among his ancestors, were members of the community council. In fact, in 1789 the Mayor of Trets was Laurens Sumeire !

At the beginning of this century, Gabriel Sumeire Sr. – grandfather of the previous one – was developing the winemaking and wine-trading business.
This expansion allowed Gabriel to acquire new estates.

When he died in 1968, his children gave up the ancient activity of wine merchant and dedicated their work to the family estates.

Elie, Gabriel’s eldest son, assisted by his two sons, Gabriel and Jean-Pierre, continued in the development of the domains.

The 1970’s and the 1980’s were very active : the rebuilding of cellars – which are now among the most modern and well-equipped of Provence, and the replanting of the vineyards with traditional provençal grape-variety were the main elements.

Since 1988, all the wines coming from the estates have been marketed directly by the Sumeire family, composed of Gabriel and Jean-Pierre, as well as Olivier and Sophie, Gabriel’s children.
